Things to Do Nearby
Brockhole, the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre is nearby and has a tree top adventure course and pleasant gardens running down to meet Lake Windermere. The Lakeside steamers are very popular with visitors to the area and can be boarded from Ambleside or from Bowness for relaxing boat trips around Lake Windermere. There are excellent mountain bike trails in the Grizedale Forest and the opportunity to hire bikes, so why not take a day trip there with the whole family for a fun-filled day out? There is even a ‘black run’ especially for the more experienced cyclist. There are numerous dog-friendly pub trails around Windermere to check out too.

We stayed here for my husbands birthday. The log cabin was awesome with all things you could need, and very clean and tidy. Furnished to a very high standard, even better than some top hotels I have stayed in. The hot tub was an added bonus and made our stay even more relaxing.
The onsite facilities are great for relaxing, although aside from the bar and restaurant there isn’t an awful lot of entertainment in the evenings. This wasn;’t a problem for us as we often made the short journey into Bowness on Windermere.

Very helpful owner, beatifully clean and comfortable. Hot tub superb, really made a big difference. Location ideal, only flaw was the checkin at the reception which was about an hour later than informed.

We’ve just returned from a lovely break over New Year. 22 Thirlmere couldn’t have been in a better spot, perfect for bike rides around Ambleside.
The property is pet friendly and we took our 2 year spaniel with us. It’s well furnished and a very comfortable, and unlike some we have stayed at in the past, very quiet even in high winds. Only downside is my phone reception was very poor here.

22 Thirlmere was spacious, warm and in scenic surroundings. The location of the White Cross Bay complex was very convenient for both Windermere and Ambleside with everything available to meet our needs. The position of the lodge within the complex was good, being less than a minute from the bank of Lake Windermere.
The decked patio with has its own hot tub and seating, with integrated barbecue added to the appeal. For us it ticked all the boxes and we look forward to a return in the near future.

Positives; breathtaking location with stunning views, great inside and a wonderful hot tub. Kids loved it, pestered me daily to get one in our back yard.
Communication with site manager could be a little easier as he was hard to contact.
